Halesowen and its surrounding areas are a wonderful place to live with a fantastic mix of properties new and old, historic towns and amazing countryside. From the buzzing Halesowen Town Centre to the peaceful rolling Clent Hills with its little villages nestled all around to the historic towns of Cradley heath and Rowley Regis there is a place for everyone young and old.
A big draw for us is our proximity to Britain’s second City with Birmingham City Centre being only 9 miles away but still being right on the edge of some of the most beautiful countryside in the country.
At Bloore and King we are a small family run and family owned business and we believe that really means something even in today’s digital world. That’s why we always promote and use local business wherever we possibly can from photography, computers, phone systems or just a cup of coffee.
Here are a few of our favourite places:
2 Hagley Street, Halesowen, B63 3AS
0121 550 0812
We love Coffee Worx. Paul and his team are super friendly and the atmosphere is amazing. Of course none of that matters unless the coffee and the food are up to scratch….and we think it is the best coffee anywhere in the area and they do sandwiches and cake too !!
The Vintage Potato Food Truck
Somers Square, Halesowen
The vintage potato truck is fast becoming a landmark in Somers Square. The amazing vintage Citroen truck is such a recognizable gorgeous vehicle and the food is simply amazing. An absolute must for lunch in Halesowen.
Dancers Clothing Store
21 Peckingham Street, Halesowen, B63 3AR
0121 550 1237
Dancers is a family run business and has been providing clothes to the public for generations and one of the leading suppliers of school uniforms in the area. A real part of the history of Halesowen.
91 – 107 Dudley Road, Halesowen, B63 3NS
0121 506 6800
For this adrenaline fuelled residents Streetbike is the place to go for bikes and all things biking. They sell new and used bikes, clothing, and accessories and even have a lovely little café on site. Have a look next time you pass as you will probably see Chris Bloore…as an avid biker he’s usually in there buying something!
Manor Way, Halesowen, B62 8RJ
Halesowen Abbey is a historic building founded by King John in the 13th century however only ruins remain.
Please Be Aware: The land immediately around the site of the abbey is privately owned and no access is permitted. The ruins can be viewed from a nearby footpath
The Clent Hills
THE Clent Hills is a beauty spot only minutes away from Halesowen with stunning scenery and panoramic views of the Cotswolds, Welsh borders and Shropshire Hills. Miles of footpaths await keen walkers at this countryside haven and you can stop for a coffee at the Nimmings Wood Café on your way.
There are some fantastic pubs and restaurants scattered through the Clent Hills and Romsley.
Below are a couple of our favourites:
The Swallows Nest
Bromsgrove Road, Romsley B62 0LF
01562 711 236
A fabulous country pub located in the heart of the village of Romsley. A must to visit and sample the wonderful food and atmosphere. Certainly one of our favourites.
Adams Hill, Clent, DY9 9PU
01562 883 286
Wonderful proper country pub with amazing food and they have a great old school style skittle ally at the back for some brilliant evening fun.
One of Halesowen’s biggest draws for people to come to live here is just how close we are to Birmingham Centre whilst still feeling like you are even closer to some of the most beautiful countryside in the country (in our opinion)
Being Britain’s second City Birmingham has some of the shops (with the biggest John Lewis in the country) restaurants and cinemas found anywhere in the country and everything is within easy reach of us here in Halesowen.
A few Birmingham highlights:
The Bull Ring Shopping Centre, B5 4BU
An absolute icon of the Midlands, the bull ring features amazing shops and restaurants
The Everyman Theatre
The Mailbox, Birmingham, B1 1RF
We love this place. Small and art deco like cinema’s used to be. Full relaxed sofa seating it’s the best and most comfortable place to see all the new releases
100 Hagley Road, Birmingham, B16 8LA
0121 456 1904
We couldn’t not mention this place….again one of Chris’s favourite places in the world…if he’s not at street bike you can rest assured he’s here. It’s a wonder we get any work out of him.
A stone’s throw away from Halesowen, check out every guitar you can think of, and some you didn’t know existed. For the guitar players amongst you a visit to guitar guitar is a must.
